Boxing schedule for 2020 features Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury, Demetrius Andrade vs. Luke Keeler

Boxing schedule for 2020 features Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury, Demetrius Andrade vs. Luke KeelerBusiness is booming so far as the year in boxing rolls along The early portion of 2020 is littered with interesting fights, including a highly demanded rematch for the WBC heavyweight championship between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. But the heavyweight championship fight is hardly the only meaningful clash on the schedule. We kicked off 2020 with Claressa Shields winning her grudge match against Ivana Habazin in decisive fashion. Plus, Dany Garcia and Jarrett Hurd scored bounce-back victories to get their year's off on the right foot. Now we head to Miami to close January with a tripleheader just before the Super Bowl, headlined by Demetrius Andrade defending his WBO middleweight title against Luke Keeler. February will come to a close with Wilder and Fury strapping on the gloves to run back their classic -- and controversial -- December 2018 clash. Fury climbed off the canvas fr..

Danny Garcia coasts to easy decision victory over Ivan Redkach, hopes for big name fights next

Danny Garcia coasts to easy decision victory over Ivan Redkach, hopes for big name fights nextGarcia was in cruise control throughout Saturday's main event, despite getting bit halfway through the fight NEW YORK -- Former two-division champion Danny Garcia's audition for marquee fight turned out to be a successful one on Saturday, even if his inability to deliver the boom left things anticlimactic. Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs) was thorough, accurate and dominant in outpointing Ivan Redkach via unanimous decision in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Although Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs) was stubborn enough to linger as Garcia took home scores of 118-110 and 117-111 (twice), he was never in the fight. "To be honest, I did good but I did not do my best," Garcia said. "I had to lose a lot of weight for this fight. There was a long layoff and just losing so much weight, I lost about 25 pounds. I'm eating good." Garcia fought just o..

Jarrett Hurd earns unimpressive decision victory over Francisco Santana in Brooklyn

Jarrett Hurd earns unimpressive decision victory over Francisco Santana in Brooklyn'Swift' left much to be desired on Saturday night in the co-main event NEW YORK -- Nearly booed out of the arena by a feisty Barclays Center crowd, the rebirth of former unified junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd received mixed reviews on Saturday. Hurd (24-1, 16 KOs), in his first fight since losing his WBA and IBF titles to Julian Williams last June, made his return in Brooklyn with a new trainer, haircut and fighting style. Although he exited with a fairly wide 10-round unanimous decision over Francisco Santana in their 156-pound catchweight bout, Hurd visibly struggled with identify problems. Having made his name with a relentless, pressure style that benefits from his extreme size advantage at 154 pounds, the 29-year-old Hurd was far more passive and defensive in his first fight with U.S. National amateur coach Kay Koroma in his corner. Although he took home judges scores of 97-..

Danny Garcia vs. Ivan Redkach: Fight start time, prediction, odds, undercard, Showtime boxing preview

Danny Garcia vs. Ivan Redkach: Fight start time, prediction, odds, undercard, Showtime boxing previewThe pair of welterweights collide in a title eliminator from Brooklyn on Saturday night At 31 and at the peak of his physical prime, former two-division champion Danny Garcia was hoping to close 2019 by taking his commercial value to the next level as a pay-per-view headliner. Garcia (35-2, 21 KOs), who knocked out Adrian Granados in spectacular fashion on national television in April, was never quite able to capitalize on the momentum to get there, however. First, talks with Mikey Garcia for an August bout fell apart. Garcia then entered the ring following Errol Spence Jr.'s September unification win over Shawn Porter only to see their plans for a January bout disengage after Spence was charged with DUI in an automobile accident. The new year has spawned a new strategy for Garcia to land a spring PPV date against either Spence or fellow welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. To..

Coronavirus concerns in China lead to rescheduling of Jose Ramirez vs. Viktor Postol title fight

Coronavirus concerns in China lead to rescheduling of Jose Ramirez vs. Viktor Postol title fightThe viral outbreak has forced Top Rank to push the fight to a later date With the death toll in China attributed to the current coronavirus outbreak rising to 26 and travel limits increasing through the country, Top Rank Boxing has decided to cancel and reschedule Jose Ramirez's junior welterweight title defense against Viktor Postol. The fight was to take place Feb. 1 at Mission Hills Haikou resort in Haikou, China with the card airing on ESPN. Promotional president Bob Arum confirmed to ESPN that the fight had been officially called off, stating the only delay in the announcement had been confirming the cancelation with the resort as a courtesy. Ramirez unified his WBC title with the WBO title when he defeated Maurice Hooker last July, scoring a sixth-round knockout. He had won the then-vacant WBC title in March 2018 with a decision win over Amir Imam and made two successful defense..

Conor McGregor’s next fight in 2020: Breaking down the options from UFC title bouts to boxing return

Conor McGregor's next fight in 2020: Breaking down the options from UFC title bouts to boxing returnAfter stunning in his return at UFC 246, 'Notorious' has a plethora of options waiting for him on the table If the deep-rooted intention of UFC pairing Conor McGregor against aging legend Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone on Saturday was to revive the pay-per-view brand of the sport's biggest star, consider UFC 246 as a monster success. Despite being labeled as live underdog coming in, the 36-year-old Cerrone (36-14, 1 NC) lasted just 40 seconds against McGregor (22-4), turning their welterweight main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas into nothing more than a high-profile "get well" fight for the Irish sensation. Cerrone's lack of resistance certainly prevented McGregor, 31, from answering a number of questions critics had for him following a wild three-year stretch in which he fought just once (a one-sided loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018) and spent more time in ..

Tyson Fury planning to retire after fights with Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte

Tyson Fury planning to retire after fights with Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Dillian WhyteFury has a three-step plan that leads to him hanging up his boxing gloves Tyson Fury is notorious for his wildly swinging thoughts and plans. Ask him the same question days apart and you're likely to get wildly different answers. And, at least for now, Fury says he's got a three-step plan for his future that begins with facing Deontay Wilder next month and ends in his retirement. He isn't sure about having that trilogy bout just yet but laid out his expected next three opponents. "I expect Wilder next, [Anthony] Joshua, then Dillian Whyte," Fury said in an interview with IFL TV. "Then I'm out." Respect box? Subscribe to our podcast -- State of Combat with Brian Campbell..

Jaime Munguia vs. Gary O’Sullivan fight prediction, start time, live stream, odds, how to watch

Jaime Munguia vs. Gary O'Sullivan fight prediction, start time, live stream, odds, how to watchEverything you need to know before Munguia and O'Sullivan throw down in San Antonio After being pushed to the brink -- and arguably deserving to lose -- in a defense of his WBO 154-pound championship against Dennis Hogan, Jaime Munguia lost some shine. Sure, he was still an undefeated, young and talented prospect who had won a world championship by dismantling Sadam Ali and bursting onto the world stage. Munguia (34-0, 27 KO) rebounded from the controversial majority decision win over Hogan by stopping Patrick Allotey in September. Getting a clean win was a step in the right direction, but it's easy to look at the way the WBO and the Munguia camp refused a Hogan rematch and find a second layer of issue with the 23-year-old's current place in the sport. But Hogan is a tricky fight for anyone and Munguia is just 23. Respect box? Subscribe to our podcast -- State of Combat wi..
